Explanation 用語の説明

年齢に対して身長が過度に低い状態。栄養面その他の要因が複合的に影響し、身体的・認知的発達を損なうとともに、感染症で死亡するリスクを高めるとされているFAOほか(2022)。世界の 5歳未満の子どものうち、発育不良の子どもは2020年において22.0%(約1.49億人)いると言われている(前出)。極度に栄養不良の状態で生命が脅かされている状態はwasting(消耗症)と呼ばれる。
