Explanation 用語の説明
☆Definition: the employment of children in an industry or business, especially
when illegal or considered exploitative. The work deprives children of their
childhood, their potential, and dignity, and also harmful to physical and
mental development.
児童労働とは，18歳未満の者を法律で禁じられている危険で有害な労働につかせることである。世界には，貧困や厳しい環境が原因で、幼い頃から労働の担い手として働かざるを得ないため，学校にも行けず十分な教育が受けられない子ども達が多い。地域別にみると，児童労働者が最も多いのはアフリカで，次にアジア・太平洋地域が続く。児童労働の多い業種には，例えばコーヒーやカカオのプランテーションや縫製工場がある。ILOによると，COVID19後は児童労働数が増加し，2020年度時点で1.6億人 (世界の子どもの10人に1人) の子どもが児童労働に従事している，とされている。

・The worst forms of child labor involve children being enslaved, separated from their
families, exposed to serious hazards and illnesses, and/or left to fend for themselves
on the streets of large cities – often at a very early age.
・Child labor interferes with their schooling by depriving them of the opportunity to
attend school; obliging them to leave school prematurely; or requiring them to attempt
to combine school attendance with excessively long and heavy work.
・Child labor continues to compromise the fundamental rights of countless numbers of
children. The majority of them are trapped in hazardous forms of child labor, often
enduring heavy work and also suffering the traumatic impact of violence.
